Exterminate! Exterminate!

Wooohoooooooooowooohooooooooo
(That's the Doctor Who theme tune, by the way)

Hello!
Yes. So, Doctor Who is back! Sorry, that wasn't excited enough... Hang on, ah here:

DOCTOR WHO IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Font type cannot describe my excitement! It feels like years since we've seen the old Doctor and the lovely Ponds. It's not even been a whole year but we have waited...
and waited...
and waited...
still waiting...
yup, we're still here, waiting...
MOFFAT!!!!!!

But he's finally heard our cries and given into 5 episodes starting this Saturday 1st of September! The first episode being called Asylum of the Daleks is definitely going to earn itself a blog post of my opinion and overall fangirlness (expect CAPITALS and many x!!!!)

Now, it's just a matter of waiting until Saturday...
Thankfully the BBC team have been supplying us with comedic Doctor Who shorts called Pond Life. These shorts are excellent little pieces of online telley that tell the story of Amy and Rory in their everyday life which gets frequently interrupted by the Doctor.
Find them online here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01mmqtt

That's all folks!

Result!

HI!
So to all you GCSEers, you would have got your results today. Me too. I think I did ok but was expected to do much better, especially in the subjects I thought I was good at...
Every year the success rate has been going up and up but our year have done the worst in the last 20 years! Bloody typical.

But let's not dwell on it! I'm sure everyone did really well and deserved much better than what you got.
So well done, anyway. And don't worry GCSEs aren't that important!

:D

Explanation.

Oh yeah, the zombie thing!

Well first of all, some background info:
I've just finished my GCSEs (awaiting results tomorrow!! Ack!) and finally, finally(!) I've been allowed by my parents to start gaining acting experience in the professional world. I've wanted to be an actress ever since I knew what it was.
So I logged on, and found myself an online agency. Here's my profile --> http://www.starnow.co.uk/lucyanneheward
A month after I got my first job! I was sooooo happy when I found out I actually cried with happiness! It was an extra role in the promotional film where I had to be a stereotypical 'Hoodie'. Unpaid, but that didn't bother me, my acting career had finally started!

That was late July. This week my castings went from 1 to 3 on my profile! In the same week I've been cast for two jobs!
The first casting was for a zombie music video. Yes, you read that right. I'm to become a living dead extra in September. Again, I cried when I read the email. (Pathetic I know, but who cares, I'm a zombie!)
The second was on monday, after my epic day out in London *read below* I've been cast for a student's short film in London. That's (hopefully) going to happen this weekend. So excited! Apparently I'm to wear similar dress to the character Lai Lai Zhen from The Tournament. She's an assassin by the way so I'm looking forward to some action filming!!!

So, in short, I've had a good week!!!! I'll let you know when I've done the filming. :)

The streets of London.

Cor blimey!

So, I went to London with my dearest friend, Ellen. But I didn't just go to London, oh no, as soon as I stepped off the train "we're going to North Gower street!" Ellen's dad had to endure the wrath of my fangirling as I lead the way to Speedy's Cafe.
Located on North Gower street, Camden, Speedy's Cafe stands out with it's bright red awning. Stepping around the corner a little squeal managed to work its way out of me. Cue fangirl.

If you ever go to the cafe, get a Sherlock wrap. 1. Because it's Sherlock related.
2. It's really tasty!!
3. It's Sherlock related.
But if you're a veggie, have the Watson wrap which I'm sure is equally as lovely.

Inside, the walls are decorated with pictures of filming and many Benedicts and Martins with very lucky members of staff. It looks just like it does in Scandal In Belgravia where Mycroft and John discuss how initially Sherlock wanted to be a pirate. The whole time my head was running with "Oh my God, Martin could have sat in this seat!" or "I'm wearing a deerstalker, in Speedy's Cafe, next door to 221B, GAH!"
One of the staff members asked us if we were fans. I think the deerstalker and the massive beam on my face might have given us away. We got talking to him and found out loads of cool stuff about the filming. e.g. They only film when Speedy's is closed so it doesn't affect their business.
How cool is that?! The guy then got out his IPad and showed us pictures of the rain machines (Scandal), the debris on the road (Great Game), snow on the street in the middle of august (Scandal) and pictures of the cast and crew.
Inside I was exploding with jealousy. I would give a limb to be on Sherlock.
Unfortunately we couldn't stay forever and after some pictures, we headed off to our next attraction on the Streets of London.

So what other places can we visit now? How about PLATFORM 9 3/4?! Yes, Kings Cross station actually does have a Platform 9 3/4!
Well, actually it's not a platform but a wall before the barriers next to Waterstones. But it had a sign and a disappearing trolley with a constant line of tourists behind and ever so fun to give yourself a concussion when you "give it a bit of a run".
Unfortunately the Hogwarts Express wasn't there. Obviously term hasn't started yet so maybe in September.

Proceeding King's Cross, Camden market was next on the list. It was disappointing. I expected banterous market stalls with an array of colours, weird and wonderful gizmos and gadgets but instead all I found was t-shirt stall after t-shirt stall after t-shirt stall speckled with the few bags and shoes stalls. However in Camden Stables market, my expectations were met and I bought a massive batch of henna, funky earrings and an awesome Harry-Potter-looking leather journal which I find too pretty to ruin with my scruffy handwriting. So go to Camden Stables market, that's where the worthy stuff is.

The rest of the day was spent flying over the Thames on the new gondola system. Yes, I did say gondola. Who needs bridges when we've got a gondola? It's a 3 minute ride with spectacular sights at a reasonable price for a London tourist attraction!
Don't forget to bring a camera because the view is awesome!

After the gondola ride it was on the windy and slowly packing underground (I suggest you try train surfing. Just don't hold on! It's a test for balance and a lot of fun! You might get a few stares though.) and to the Southbank!

I love the Southbank. Where the street performers prowl and the tourists take tonnes of pictures leaning on the London Eye or picking up Big Ben, this place was busy. Oddly enough, the whole of London seemed unusually quiet. Maybe the predicted traffic jams of the Olympics had frightened off all the tourists or all the office workers were still on holiday. Nevertheless, it was creepy. Thankfully, there was life, and lots of it, on the Southbank. A fun fair had set itself up in Jubilee Park and Ellen and I got on a very tall waltzer to get a better look at London (we were height fearless!). WARNING: This video is dizzying!!

Along the Southbank we passed the National Theatre. Turning to Ellen, I told her "One day, one day, I will be on that stage." To which her father said "What? Sweeping up after a show?" I laughed it off but inside I added 'Perform on the National Theatre stage' to my list of things I must achieve in life.
It's such an odd looking building, the NT. It appears to be made of concrete blocks pilled upon each other. Not the most obviously attractive theatre but, to me, it's still a place of dreams. That reminds me, I ought to book to see a performance there. Apparently there's one with Una Stubbs in!
Underneath the National Theatre there is a graffiti decorated skate park. It was I who verbally noted that this is where they filmed ANOTHER scene from Sherlock, when Raz takes John and Sherlock to look at a cipher hidden in the graffiti. (Blind Banker)

After a very British meal of take-away pie and mash, we walked back along the Thames to get some images of the Houses of Parliament as the sun lit the sky orange.

I've always been fascinated by London. It's so large and busy. It's more a way of life than a city, you're a London dweller, or you're not. There's so much to see in a city like this, it's never still and never quiet (unless the home Olympics have just finished) I bet there's at least two attractions for every day of the year in London. I want to live there, I know it's expensive and stressful but to be part of London would be great. If you've never been, go. You'll see what I mean.

A Brave attempt at a review.

If you could change your fate, would you?

Just watched Disney Pixar's Brave. Having not being able to watch it until it fiiinallly came out in England, Brave has been much anticipated.
Set in ancient Scotland, Princess Merida has to chose a suitor and make her mother, Queen Elinor, proud by becoming a true princess. But Merida has other ideas, like going for a ride on her very large but trusty steed Angus and shooting some arrows in the meantime. After publicly displaying her lack of interest in finding a husband, a great row occurs between the mother and daughter causing Merida to take fate into her own hands.
The magic of Disney combined with the visual wonderland of Pixar makes Brave another classic. The use of 3D enhances the adventure and leaves the audience totally absorbed in the fiery Princess' problem.
Though the film felt short, it did not lack in rich characters which we learnt, laughed at and loved. Especially the three younger brothers of Merida (also known as the 'wee Devils') who are both mischievous and adorable.
Billy Connolly's rich Scottish accent brought to life the big manly brute of a King with revenge for a leg-eating monster bear, Emma Thompson voiced Queen Elinor with a surprisingly convincing accent and Kelly MacDonald  is the voice of the headstrong Princess.
Although the word 'Princess' is used frequently in this review, Brave is not a Disney Princess movie. It does not end in a wedding with a handsome prince or a new ballgown, oh no! Brave is almost independent of Disney's typical. Don't worry, it still gives the soft, heart warming glow and the laughs but Brave seems to lack something. Maybe it's because without the big star-crossed lovers the story line was a bit flat.
On the other hand, Brave is still great for the whole family, full of Scottish gimmicks and breathtaking music, not to mention characters with impressive ginger locks.
My verdict: Not what you'd quite expect but still fulfilling. Go see in 3D, now.

Scratches upon the leg.

Hello!!
Wondering for the day:
"Storm's coming" Why is that line always used in films? I wish I had the capability to just look at the sky and say mysteriously "There's a storm coming..." and actually be right. Or even better, be able to know when a storm was coming without even looking at the sky... I guess either way I wouldn't be able to pull it off without an American accent. Possibly Texan...

Anyway, back to reality. A scratchy reality. Spent the day playing manhunt in the woods with my friends. I've got bramble scratches all down my legs. So worth it.

Watching the Olympic diving now. Yes, the Olympics! Who would've thought that I would have ever been interested in watching sport? But the London Olympics are surprisingly good. Good old Blighty! It'll be nice to do well. For once.

In other news; WHEN IS DOCTOR WHO ON? They tease us with the new EPIC trailer, weeks, WEEKS before it airs. WHY MUST THEY MAKE US WAIT? CRUEL, CRUEL MOFFAT! But we still love you!  God, I love Doctor Who. I've painted the nails on my left hand, DW themed and my right hand nails, Sherlock. I'm quite proud.
Unfortunately, the left ones are a bit messier because I'm left handed. Woo! Left handers are the best. It's got to be said.

Today.

So it's summer. (Well as close to summer as England will allow.)
THE SUN IS ACTUALLY OUT! Which is new.
And I'm sat inside. But I don't care because I'm entertaining myself with this. :D

It is supposed to be the summer of my life but I really hope my life lasts a bit longer.
Finished my GCSEs and am awaiting...

THE DREADED RESULTS! DUN DUN DAA!

I'm sure I'll be fine. That's what people tell me anyway.
Off that subject though, too depressing.

Hey! I wrote a poem today. Probably the first one I've ever written in my spare time. Have a look. ENJOY!

Formalities.

Hello! Well this is new, isn't it?

Hi.
So this is me, Lucy Anne Heward, starting a blog because I love inflicting random Wonderings on the world. :)  Excuse all the formalities because I'm not used to this 'blogging'. To me 'blogging' sounds like a sport which has been banned in English public schools for its crude opinions. But there's a Wondering for you.

Yeaaah... about the Wondering thing. I like to imagine my brain like an endless forest with pixies and crap and here I am just wandering through it, lost, (I always get lost) tripping over roots and thinking of really random things. So i decided to call those random thoughts Wonderings because they would only be something a weirdo like me would only come out with if they were wandering in a wood. Make sense? No? Cool.

So down to the formalities. About me:
  • I like puns, they make me laugh. Har har har. (Hence the whole Wonderings from wanderings thing)
  • I'm a MA-HOO-SIVE Sherlockian and Whovian.
  • I have a collection of hats.
  • Green is the best colour, don't argue. It's true.
  • I have a very addictive personality.
  • I'm an aspiring actress.
  • I can't write things like this blog without thinking "I sound like a complete moron."
So, yup, this is me. I'll post every now and then about interesting things that happen to me.
ENJOY!
