A Brave attempt at a review.

If you could change your fate, would you?

Just watched Disney Pixar's Brave. Having not being able to watch it until it fiiinallly came out in England, Brave has been much anticipated.
Set in ancient Scotland, Princess Merida has to chose a suitor and make her mother, Queen Elinor, proud by becoming a true princess. But Merida has other ideas, like going for a ride on her very large but trusty steed Angus and shooting some arrows in the meantime. After publicly displaying her lack of interest in finding a husband, a great row occurs between the mother and daughter causing Merida to take fate into her own hands.
The magic of Disney combined with the visual wonderland of Pixar makes Brave another classic. The use of 3D enhances the adventure and leaves the audience totally absorbed in the fiery Princess' problem.
Though the film felt short, it did not lack in rich characters which we learnt, laughed at and loved. Especially the three younger brothers of Merida (also known as the 'wee Devils') who are both mischievous and adorable.
Billy Connolly's rich Scottish accent brought to life the big manly brute of a King with revenge for a leg-eating monster bear, Emma Thompson voiced Queen Elinor with a surprisingly convincing accent and Kelly MacDonald  is the voice of the headstrong Princess.
Although the word 'Princess' is used frequently in this review, Brave is not a Disney Princess movie. It does not end in a wedding with a handsome prince or a new ballgown, oh no! Brave is almost independent of Disney's typical. Don't worry, it still gives the soft, heart warming glow and the laughs but Brave seems to lack something. Maybe it's because without the big star-crossed lovers the story line was a bit flat.
On the other hand, Brave is still great for the whole family, full of Scottish gimmicks and breathtaking music, not to mention characters with impressive ginger locks.
My verdict: Not what you'd quite expect but still fulfilling. Go see in 3D, now.

Scratches upon the leg.

Hello!!
Wondering for the day:
"Storm's coming" Why is that line always used in films? I wish I had the capability to just look at the sky and say mysteriously "There's a storm coming..." and actually be right. Or even better, be able to know when a storm was coming without even looking at the sky... I guess either way I wouldn't be able to pull it off without an American accent. Possibly Texan...

Anyway, back to reality. A scratchy reality. Spent the day playing manhunt in the woods with my friends. I've got bramble scratches all down my legs. So worth it.

Watching the Olympic diving now. Yes, the Olympics! Who would've thought that I would have ever been interested in watching sport? But the London Olympics are surprisingly good. Good old Blighty! It'll be nice to do well. For once.

In other news; WHEN IS DOCTOR WHO ON? They tease us with the new EPIC trailer, weeks, WEEKS before it airs. WHY MUST THEY MAKE US WAIT? CRUEL, CRUEL MOFFAT! But we still love you!  God, I love Doctor Who. I've painted the nails on my left hand, DW themed and my right hand nails, Sherlock. I'm quite proud.
Unfortunately, the left ones are a bit messier because I'm left handed. Woo! Left handers are the best. It's got to be said.

Today.

So it's summer. (Well as close to summer as England will allow.)
THE SUN IS ACTUALLY OUT! Which is new.
And I'm sat inside. But I don't care because I'm entertaining myself with this. :D

It is supposed to be the summer of my life but I really hope my life lasts a bit longer.
Finished my GCSEs and am awaiting...

THE DREADED RESULTS! DUN DUN DAA!

I'm sure I'll be fine. That's what people tell me anyway.
Off that subject though, too depressing.

Hey! I wrote a poem today. Probably the first one I've ever written in my spare time. Have a look. ENJOY!

Formalities.

Hello! Well this is new, isn't it?

Hi.
So this is me, Lucy Anne Heward, starting a blog because I love inflicting random Wonderings on the world. :)  Excuse all the formalities because I'm not used to this 'blogging'. To me 'blogging' sounds like a sport which has been banned in English public schools for its crude opinions. But there's a Wondering for you.

Yeaaah... about the Wondering thing. I like to imagine my brain like an endless forest with pixies and crap and here I am just wandering through it, lost, (I always get lost) tripping over roots and thinking of really random things. So i decided to call those random thoughts Wonderings because they would only be something a weirdo like me would only come out with if they were wandering in a wood. Make sense? No? Cool.

So down to the formalities. About me:
  • I like puns, they make me laugh. Har har har. (Hence the whole Wonderings from wanderings thing)
  • I'm a MA-HOO-SIVE Sherlockian and Whovian.
  • I have a collection of hats.
  • Green is the best colour, don't argue. It's true.
  • I have a very addictive personality.
  • I'm an aspiring actress.
  • I can't write things like this blog without thinking "I sound like a complete moron."
So, yup, this is me. I'll post every now and then about interesting things that happen to me.
ENJOY!
